O ensino do reading exige preparo do educador, pois:


o propósito de se desenvolver essa habilidade é verificar o nível de entendimento dos alunos por meio de atividades escritas de compreensão de texto;


essa habilidade deve ser ensinada por meio da leitura intensiva, que consiste no ato de ler o maior volume possível de textos, em um dado período;


uma das dificuldades enfrentadas pelo docente de língua inglesa é a seleção de textos adequados ao nível e ao interesse de seus alunos;


é uma habilidade que está restrita ao espaço da sala de aula e que, portanto, para ser desenvolvida depende da presença do professor;


durante a leitura intensiva, livros integrais escritos no idioma em estudo são os mais indicados para o desenvolvimento dessa habilidade.
